Complete and Abbreviated Form

This denotes how much information is going to be included in the resulting citation. Currently JACoW accepts both complete and abbreviated forms, and it is up to the author to decide which they wish to use. Though if page length is not an issue the complete form is preferable. To toggle between these two forms click of the Use Complete Form, or Use Abbreviated Form button below the citation.

Example of Complete and Abbreviated Form

Complete FormC. Petit-Jean-Genaz and V. RW. Schaa, “IPAC'10 Award for the JACoW Collaboration”, in Proc. 1st Int. Particle Accelerator Conf. (IPAC'10), Kyoto, Japan, May 2010, paper THPPMH04, pp. 3668-3672.
Abbreviated FormC. Petit-Jean-Genaz and V. RW. Schaa, “IPAC'10 Award for the JACoW Collaboration”, in Proc. IPAC'10, Kyoto, Japan, May 2010, paper THPPMH04, pp. 3668-3672.

Warning and Information Banners

Warning banners will be displayed in this screen should the reference be known to be incomplete such as missing page numbers, or should an error have been reported.

Incomplete Missing information
Problem Reported about Reference

If Proceeding are Unpublished

A button will be displayed to allow you to toggle between displaying the For use at same conference and Not for use for this conference. This is very important as it will format the citation to suite the appropriate situation.

The difference between the two citation forms ac be seen below;

This Conference
R. Auchettl, R. T. Dowd, and Y. E. Tan, “Beam Dynamics, Injection and Impedance Studies for the Proposed Single Pulsed Nonlinear Injection Kicker at the Australian Synchrotron”, presented at the 10th Int. Particle Accelerator Conf. (IPAC'19), Melbourne, Australia, May 2019, paper TUZZPLS2, this conference.
Unpublished Not at Same Conference
(IPAC'19), Melbourne, Australia, May 2019, paper TUZZPLS2.
For Example: While writing this help section, IPAC'19 is to be held in 3 months time, and IBIC'18 has not yet published though the conference has been held in September 2018.
If I am preparing a paper for IPAC'19, I can find citations for papers not yet presented at IPAC'19, and will make sure that Blue Banner is shown as per the table above for the "this conference" to be used in the reference. If I am including a reference from IBIC'18 then the Pale Orange Banner is shown as per the table above.

Copy and Paste Word Citation

Once the citations have been pasted into a Word document you must reorder them to match the order they are cited in you paper, and replace the 'n' with the correct reference number. Further more you can correct the style to suit 1 of 3 JACoW_Reference styles.

  1. JACoW_Reference when <= 9 Refs
  2. JACoW_Reference #1-9 when >= 10 Refs
  3. JACoW_Reference #10 onwards

This ensures references are indented correctly in the reference list.

Authors Search

Authors Search The Author Search screen has 51,159 authors currently part of its database including recently held but unpublished conferences, but may also be the same author using alternative initials such as D. Button and D.T. Button.

The Author Search screen present all search results which match the search term, spanning additional pages which can be navigated at the bottom of the page.

Note: The '%' character can be used as a Wildcard Search character. Author name searches are sensitive to foreign charters such as ö, see Accent Characters for more details on how to input these characters.

Search Advantages

The Author Search has advantages over the other search screens in that it is able the look for variants of the search term. For example, if looking for Volker Schaa who initials are V.RW. Schaa, using the search term V.Schaa will produce 3 results in the current data, the top 2 being the same author Volker Schaa but with publications produced with a different variance of his initialized name.

Search Results for V.Schaa

Example Search

For this example we will search for all JACoW papers that Rohan Dowd is a lead or contributing author.

For this search we will us Dowd as the search term.

Search Results from this list you can click on R. T. Dowd
to see all papers that R. T. Dowd is an author or co-author on
All JACoW Paper References Attributed to R. T. Dowd even if not written in the case of et al.

References Search

References Search The Reference Search screen has 65,712 references currently part of its database including recently held but unpublished conferences, and IPAC’19.

Reference Search Screen

The Reference Search screen only allows you to search the reference by how it is actually written, thus authors who are not shown due to the usage of et al. are not searchable within this screen. For example in the Author Search help section we search for R. T. Dowd, in that search the term returned 51 results (as of the writing of this help section). Within the Reference Search screen the search term R. T. Dowd only returns 31 results.

Note: The '%' character can be used as a Wildcard Search character. Author name searches are sensitive to foreign charters such as ö, see Accent Characters for more details on how to input these characters.

Wild Card Search

Within the fields user can use the percent % charter to act as a wildcard character within your searches.

Note that if you use this to search in the Reference Search search screen the sequence of the know values must be in the correct order. If writing the family name of authors they must be broken up in the same order they appear in the text of the reference.

For Example

Search for a paper by Nikolai Lobanov on Tandem Accelerator Stabilization within References

If you are to use the search term Lobanov you will receive 24 results that contain the that term.
If you replace the search term with Lobanov%tandem you will identify the reference featuring Nikolai Lobanov work on Tandem Accelerator Stabilization.
N. R. Lobanov, M. C. Blacksell, P. Linardakis, and D. Tsifakis, “Terminal Voltage Stabilization of Pelletron Tandem Accelerator”, in Proc. 12th Int. Conf. on Heavy Ion Accelerator Technology (HIAT'12), Chicago, IL, USA, Jun. 2012, paper TUB03, pp. 124-128.
